Live Calls

Do You wanna be on the Air and Call us?
We have a new system!! Try it out now: http://mnkradio.com/phone Call Us Live on the air!! :-) :-)

We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give

I know this is early to start planning but for the good of the end goal, I want to make sure we get this idea in the heads of everyone in the community.

I want to share a personal story with you. A story that I started to tell once on the Milk N Kookies show but refrained from finishing, quite simply because I knew I wasn't able to hold myself together to tell it. Its hard to "say" but hopefully I can type it and you will understand why this is so important to me.

I grew up poor, very poor. My home was a a small shack in the outskirts of town, overrun with roaches, no cable, hot water and heat from time to time. My parents were both disabled and couldn't really offer anything more. I was resilient, I knew the truth about our situation, I knew what hunger truly felt like, what its like to steal to feed yourself and how desperation can make you do things you never thought you could.

Christmas was hard. It was hard not because my brother and I weren't getting much, it was hard watching my parents faces drop in disappointment. It was hard listening to them cry together in the bedroom, thinking we couldn't hear them. My brother and I would cry together because we knew it was US that was causing that grief, even though truthfully the best gift we could have gotten was happiness.

I did get a few gifts from a church, I remember because they weren't addressed to "me" they were to "Boy 12" or "Boy 11". I was ok with it, or maybe I wasn't but for the sake of my parents I pretended like every gift was a million dollars.

The point of this post is this- I want the Milk N Kookies show as well as SLC, Aspen, SL Kids, Stardreams, Fluffys, EVERYONE to work together this year and pledge to get our good fortunes out there and support a family or two. I am going to work alongside of everyone to sponsor Christmas for as many families as we can. Gifts, Christmas Dinner, Events. Everything we can possibly do to make Christmas as special and unique for some RL kids as we possibly can.

I am COUNTING on you. Counting on your generosity, RL Volunteering, and promotion. We have the CHANCE to change a childs memory. A Chance to give back and give a child the true feeling of christmas. I hope all of you talk with me or post here your ideas and suggestions on how we can accomplish our mission.

Don't worry all! You WILL get lots of pictures for Christmas! :)
