Milk N Kookies News & Event Subscriptions

Almost Thanksgiving here in the United States, an annual tradition of giving thanks for our gifts in life, a moment to reflect on what's positive in your life and share it with friends and family. What are you thankful for in your Second life? What has been given to you here in this virtual universe that you could never achieve outside this matrix of pixels and prims?

For myself, I have been given the huge responsibility of being an accepted voice for the kids community. Of course, I am not THE voice for everyone, just one of many who plunge into the limelight for the betterment of those who cannot speak for themselves. I don't know if it's a noble gesture or a collision course into self awareness of the reality of things as they stand. Either way, here I am.

This seems like the purpose time to explain our newest project and how its going to change our way of thinking

Our initial attempts back in April of uniting our kid community is slowly becoming more realistic as we work across the grid everyday. We have come up with lots of ideas, some much better than others, but we never stop trying and through trial and error, birthed the Milk N Kookies Show, the Community Calendar and various other successful communication tools. We ran into obstacles and a little opposition as we weeded through the political process thats part of any large collaboration of people.

As with any group of residents as large as ours, we are always struggling to stay informed of exactly what is currently going on throughout the grid for us kids. We face the same roadblocks as adults, dealing with group limitations and new stuff popping up frequently. It's a perpetual race on the hamster wheel and it's exhausting.

We know what it's like to get excited about a new project, event or build. But many kids lack any communication tool to get the kids community informed quickly without spamming groups and teleporting everyone on their friends list. There are many large groups of child avatars in Second Life but again we run into some roadblocks. If you aren't authorized to send messages to that group, it doesn't help share your news, and we all know that getting redundant group notices is frustrating and cluttering. ( If we even have space for another group)

How about we take a stand and this end this madness? Let us get a mass communication tool that allows club and venue owners to reach the entire kid grid, and lets the kid with the awesome new sim share it with everyone, lets help that kid who hasn't made many friends be able to know where to go to meet new kids.

Introducing the MNK News & Events Subscription. This "group" actually takes no group space at all, it communicated via object text. So when there is event is appears on your screen in local chat as Green text which a clickable SLURL link that enables you to teleport directly to that location. This will be controlled and only authorized people will be permit. Those being MNK Staff members, club owners, etc. Anyone wishing to announce an event that isn't on the list can talk to a staff member or authorized notification sender. Again, another benefit is this is for current events, which means it will reduce the number of offline group notices you recieve. Hopefully, together we will make this communication device a reality.

Koffee! This sounds WONDERFUL! Not having to have a gazillion groups in order to keep up on what's goin on? What will they think of next? Sliced bread?

Think about it... we won't have to have groups for all the different places we go. We can save valuable group space for places we need to be a group member of for access or to build.

    This is a great idea!

    Where do I sign up?

Yes, this is an awesome concept. I have the maximum amount of groups that I can sign up to, and I'm always having to add and remove groups. Sometimes, it's very difficult to figure out which group to leave. And, at times this determining factor is whether or not they even send notices. But, with this, I can just receive a notice on my local chat. ^.^ Very cool!

You are both exactly right. Think of how great this will be for a person who is JUST starting a new project. He will be able to reach out to the kids community without having to build a large group since it will already exist! We are on the way for total unity at last!
