Is Sagey Coming Back to Second Life?
Yes! After much talk and standing her ground, Sage Kostenbaum will be coming back to Second Life, with some limitations, mind you. The reason why I was initially not going to come back, was because I was not giving my family the time that they needed. Unfortuantely, Sage's life was becoming more of a priority than her alter ego's life. For several of us, mine included, when we start this wonderful adventure under the "power" of Linden Labs, we KNOW that our first lives are MORE important than that of our second lives. But, I think the more we are involved, the more we learn to do (build structures, create clothing, dj, host radio shows, etc.), the experience of the second life takes over. If you already know how to control your time inworld, CONGRATULATIONS, and I wish I already had your discipline. : ) Unfortuantely, the threat of having to give it up COMPLETELY brought things into perspective. The person who asked me to do this loves playing Magic the Gathering. He had an impression that in order to make things better at home, he needed to completely sacrifice his involvement with it (for now). He had invested a lot of time and money into this pastime. This last Sunday, he took all of his collection and gave it away to a friend who owns a card gaming shop. He felt that my sacrifice should be as dramatic. Give up what you love to do most: Second Life. I was devastated. No.. I can not do it. He felt that all the time I was spending inworld was displaying the signs of an addict. Hehe.. have you seen my first life profile? "I think I'm addicted, do they have a support group?" Kidding aside, he was worried about me, and wanted me to give it up cold turkey. After much discussion, he laxed his request. My feeling is this: I am working at getting this under control. My sacrifice is to give up 3 days to NOT come inworld (Sunday, Monday and Thursday - Sunday is a HUGE sacrifice, considering that a lot of people have their parties on Sunday. I can't get into Rai's Awesome Gang, cuz initiation is on Sunday), I have to end being inworld by 10:30pm SLT; unless it's the weekend or special events (so, if I didn't have time during a day I can come inworld, or am working that evening, I can't go in), if things are feeling stressful with the circumstances at home (Sage's real life running around screaming and wanting my attention : P Step away!), limiting my Linden spendings (we know I have too much already! hehe) and I may go inworld in the evenings if the family is not doing anything else. So, in my opinion, this is a HUGE SACRIFICE. Especially for someone who wasn't setting ANY limitations. I am okay, I am working on it, and I'm glad I'll be seeing you soon. Thank you to all that showed concern and thought about me. I love you all. : )
We ware just glad to have you back in any form Sage :)
Good to hear that Sage is still healthy and sane? hehe.
All the kid community would feel for you Sage, trying to balance our fun in SL to the chores in RL. JoshJosh is fortunate that the three people he lives with in RL, are either asleep or watching the idiot box (or flattened box nowadays) in the last 2 hours of the waking day. Therefore he can pop into SL and catch up with all his favourite people most days. Those two hours go so quick though and has me up to past midnight most times, and that's without being host of a radio show or being a social butterfly!
So here's Joshy's thought for the day... Thankfully everybody doesn't play Second Life! Just how busy would we be if all the 6+ billion RL inhabitants played including everyone you know? I love that our kids community is a little bit exclusive.
